Statement by the Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato

I would like to express my condolences, on behalf of the City of Cape Town, to the family, friends and loved ones of Beverley Jansen, who passed away on Friday, 9 October 2020.

Ms Jansen was an activist who fought against Apartheid, and is most notably known for being appointed as Land Claims Commissioner by former President Thabo Mbeki, and the work she did in assisting communities across Cape Town with land claims. Ms Jansen also served as the last Mayor of Fish Hoek in 1995-1996.
